I Preamble
A) About SANDD Software
The company was started in 1989. Mark Wyatt is the President
Bert LaMarche is the Vice President. Our Mail is received in
Reston Virginia at PO Box 2587 zip 22090.
B) Registration information
Payment entitles you to the latest version of the program.
Total Cost is $25.00 for PPS Program and $4.00 for shipping.
If you send us a picture we digitize the image in PCX format on
disk and mail to your address for only $2.00 more!

It is true . . . Your registration will ensure continued development
of this and other fine software. Please, if you find this program of
value (You use it) than register as soon as possible. Support and
future enhancements ensure the best possible product cycle.
II Getting Started
A) Installation
Copy the program to your floppy or hard disk. Examine the
setup area the first time you run the program. If your machine
changes check the setup area and change if necessary. To see
more information press <Enter> on the name, press <Esc> to use
the menus. <F9> will show an event. Events are added/edited on
the bottom of the detail edit screen. Up to three events are allowed
for each name. Events can be any of the following Pictures,Songs,
Text files, Exe or Com files.
B) Backups
Since file names are selected by you copy all data files with the
name you chose. Copy each data file and it's note file to your backup
disk.
Example
filenames are : Datafile = PPS.DAT Notefile = PPS.NTE
Dos command = Copy PPS.DAT A:
Dos command = Copy PPS.NTE A:
III Setup
To change options here use the left and right arrow keys. Up and
down arrow keys select the next or previous item. Changes are
saved automaticly. The following selections are available from SET-UP.
A) Screen
Choices include: Automatic,Color,Monochrome
B) Sound
Choices include: Sound on, Sound off
C) Mouse
Choices include: Mouse on, Mouse off
D) Communication port
assign your COMM port where your modem is connected. Choices include
COMM 1, COMM 2
E) Effects
There are three levels of effects you can choose from. The effects
are not necessary to the operation of the program. If you have a
quick machine you may wish to have the maximum amount of effects.
Choices include: None, Some, Full
F) Your name here
Type your name if you wish it to be displayed on the main
edit screen.
G) Printer selection and printer setup
Printer Selection
H) Select your printer
This is the printer type that the program will use. If your
Printer is not listed then use the Add printer option.
I) Add a new printer
Type the name of the printer, the control codes and number of
lines per page. Next make the printer current by choosing
J) Edit existing printer
Use this option to change the control codes for your printer.
Next make the printer current by choosing the select printer
option.
IV Printer Setup
A) Printer name
Type the printer name
B) Lines per page
Use the left and right arrow keys to increase or decrease
the lines per page. 66 lines is the default
C) Printer port
Use the <F2> key to change between LPT1, LPT2, Generec types
of printers.
D) Control Codes
Type the control codes in Hex, Ascii, Decimal. Press <F2> to
change the mode, be sure all codes are in the same format.
Control codes may be entered for three items :
1) Before and after report
2) Bold on and Bold off
3) Underline on and Underline off
V INFO
A) Read / Print Documentation
View this file or print this file. Use the up and down arrow keys
or page up and page down to move about.
B) Registration Information
How and why to register. Print the Registration form, fill out the
form, Find a picture (standard photo) and mail with your check payable
SANDD Software to us. Soon you receive the latest version of PPS and
your photo on disk. Note: ADD $2.00 for your photo to the total cost.
C) Biorhythm
Press <F5> to view the biorhythm of the person that is highlit.
If there is not a birthdate then you will be prompted to enter
one. Press <Esc> to exit. Calculation of the Bio is done from a
valid birthday and the system date.
D) Notes
Press <F8> to view or edit notes. The current record notes can
be up to 64K. Press <PgUp>/<PgDn> to change pages.
E) Event
Press <F9> to view the an event. Events can be Pictures, Songs or
an ASCII text file or an EXE or COM file. A listing of the events
for that record will show up. Use the arrow keys to select and press
enter to start the event. Pressing 1..2..3 has the same effect.
F) Directory
View a disk directory. Press <Spacebar> to view the file. Press
<Esc> to exit. If your loading an event or datafile press <Enter>
on the filename to paste the filename to the program.
G) Password
Use this to make the program password protect a file. Type in the
password you want. The program will ask you to retype the password.
If there is a match than the password must be entered before access
to the file is allowed. Passwords can be changed or deleted. To
change the password select password and type a new one. To clear
the password so the program does not ask for a password make the
password blank by pressing <Enter> twice. Passwords can be changed
and deleted if you know the old password.
H) Setup
See setup info. Configure Sound, Picture, Mouse, Effects and more.
I) Dial phone
Press <CTRL+D> to dial the phone. The number that is highlit is the
number that will be dialed. If no number is highlit then the first
number will be dialed. PPS only dials numbers if you have letters in
the phone number field they will be ignored. (ie.. 222-2222BOB) dials
only 222-2222. When the phone rings press <Spacebar> or any key and
pickup the receiver to complete the call. To abort the call press
any key before dialing is completed. You must press a key once the
call is connected to here the person on the other end.
J) Edit Template
With this feature you can change the field names. Type in the field
name you wish to use. Field names can be up to 10 characters long.
The second, eight and ninth fields are displayed at the top of the
main screen. Each file can have it's own template. When a new
file is created a default template is used. File templates are
saved automatically and can be changed at any time. File templates
do not effect the data only the appearance on the screen.
VI Data base functions
A) Save file
Press <F2> to save the file to disk.
B) Edit data
Press <F3> to edit the data from the menu. To see a more information
press <Enter> on the name. Use the arrow keys to move to the next or
previous record. Use the <PgUp> and <PgDn> down keys or <Ctrl+Home>
and <Ctrl+End> to change pages. Press <Esc> to return to the menu.
C) Erase name
<F4> to delete the highlit record. Confirmation is requested.
D) Detail edit
Edit the highlit record. See Detail edit information.
E) Emergency
Type the phone numbers of emergency contacts.
F) Sort data file
Sorting the data file arranges the file in alphabetical order and
removes blank or deleted records.
G) Load data file
At the start of the program the last data file that was used will
be loaded in memory. If the selected file is not found then the
program will search for a PPS.DAT data file in your selection of
files. If a data file is still not found then the program will ask
if you wish to create a new file. During operation of PPS you can
load a different data file, up to ten. Type the path and file name
of the data file you wish to load or create and press <Enter>.
Press <F2> from here to see and paste the filename from a directory
on your disk.
H) Edit Group/Index
Type in the groups you wish to use. These groups or series can be
used to create a report from. ie... Friends or Contacts
VII Search
A) Search file
Type in what you wish to find and press <Enter>. Whole or partial
strings can be used. PPS can find any name or number. Don't worry
about upper or lower case in your search. If nothing is found then
the program leaves the cursor where it was. If a match is found then
that record is highlit.
B) Continue search
By pressing <CTRL-L> the program will continue to search for the
next occurrence of the string.
C) View Event
By pressing <F9> an event will be displayed. If there is a problem
see the detail edit part of the selected record. Check the filename
and path, next check the type of file is correct, lastly check that
the file exists.
D) Top of file
<Ctrl PgUp> or <Ctrl Home> moves to the first page of the file.
E) End of file
<Ctrl PgDn> or <Ctrl End> moves to the last page of the file.
IIX Hard copy
A) Full report
Prints a report listing of all the records.
B) Print record
Prints the highlit record to the printer.
C) Group/Index report
Prints a report of each record that has the save group.
D) Print page
Prints the current page to the printer.
E) Labels
Print a label, envelope or rolodex card. Select current name to
print the highlit name. Select all names to print every record.
Select Group and use the left or right arrow keys to find a group.
Next select the number of spaces between each label. There are
almost an infinite amount of sizes available. Experimentation is the
best method, the default is four. Next select print to begin.
NOTE: When printing a label only the name and address will be printed.
IX Detail editing
A) Group/Index
This field is controlled by the left or right arrow keys. Setup
of the choices is done from the Edit Index area.
B) Name
Type in the name. You may use first name first or last name first.
C) Address
Type in the address.
D) Numbers
Type in the phone numbers.
E) Birthday
Type in the birthday. Month/Day/Year
F) Events
To select a picture press <F1>, highlight the picture you want and
press <Enter>. The picture name, path and mode will be pasted to
the record. You may type over any of this information. Up to 3
events are allowed per record. Events can be pictures, songs,
text, or programs.
G) Notes
From the detail edit screen press <F8> for notes. Here you can type
as much as you wish (up to 64K). Use the <PgUp> and <PgDn> to move
to the next page or add another page. Press <Esc> to exit.
H) Dialing
Press <CTRL+D> to dial the phone. The number that is highlit is the
number that will be dialed. When the phone rings press <Spacebar> and
pickup the receiver to complete the call. To abort the call press any
key before dialing begins.
X Commands
A) Keyboard
Keyboard commands are simple. Pressing <Enter> will select
and item and pressing <Esc> will abort the operation.
Basically use the <Enter> key to move forward and the <Esc>
key to move back. The arrow keys will move the cursor or
the menu. The page up and page down keys will move you
thru the file. The function keys do different things and
will work when the menu is displayed or you are in the
general edit area. Edit commands include:
Control Y : Delete a line
Control Right arrow : Move cursor right one word
Control left arrow : Move cursor left one word
Control End : Move cursor to end of string
Control Home : Move cursor to beginning
Control Page up : Move cursor to first page
Control page down : Move cursor to last page
Alt X : Exit program
CTRL L : Continue to search
CTRL S : Toggle Sound On/Off
CTRL R : Turn Adlib Song Off
CTRL D : Dial phone
B) Mouse
Mouse movement will move the cursor or menu up and down or left and
right. The left button is equal to <Esc> and the right button is
equal to <Enter>. Both buttons pressed equal page down.

XII Rights and Regulations
Users of PPS must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"PPS is supplied as is. The author disclaims all warranties,
expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of
merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no
liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from
the use of PPS." PPS is a " Shareware program " and is
provided at no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
another system. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide
personal computer users with quality software without high prices, and
yet to provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new
products. If you find this program useful and continue to use SANDDS
PPS after a reasonable trial period, you must make a registration
payment of $25.00 to SANDD SOFTWARE. The $25.00 registration fee will
license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time. You must
treat this software like a book. Just as a book cannot be read by two
different persons at the same time, this software cannot be used at two
separate computer locations at the same time. Just as a book, this
software may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved
from one computer location to another. Commercial users of SANDDS PPS
must register and pay for their copies of PPS within 30 days of first
use or their license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may be made
by contacting SANDD SOFTWARE.
Anyone distributing PPS for any kind of remuneration must first contact
SANDD SOFTWARE at the address below for authorization. This
authorization will be automatically granted to distributors recognized
by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware distributors,
and such distributors may begin offering PPS immediately
(However SANDD SOFTWARE must still be advised so that the distributor
can be kept up-to-date with the latest version of SANDDS PPS).
You are encouraged to pass a copy of PPS along to your friends for
evaluation. Please encourage them to register their copy if they
find that they can use it. All registered users until receive a copy
of the latest version of the PPS. SANDD will also send them an
information packet that describes other software available from SANDD
SOFTWARE. Mark Wyatt is a Member of The Association of Shareware
Professionals (ASP). ASP has established stringent standards for its
members. ASP wants to make sure that the shareware principle works for
you. If you are unable to resolve a problem with an ASP member (other
than technical support), ASP may be able to help. Please write to the

XIV Conclusion
